The controversial congregation announced plans earlier this month to picket the Wasting Light band's show at the Sprint Centre over their failure to promote "obedience to God".
In response, Dave Grohl and his bandmates parked up in front of the protesters in a modified truck on Friday and, while dressed in cowboy hats, long wigs and fake moustaches, tormented the anti-gay group by singing their song 'Keep It Clean' and talking about "man-muffin".
"Ladies and gentlemen,God bless America!" Grohl declared during the impromptu set. "Land of the free, home of the brave!
"I don't care if you're black or white or purple or green, whether you're Pennsylvanian or Transylvanian, Lady GaGa or Lady Antebellum, it takes all kinds."
The Foo Fighters were also watched by individuals staging counter-protests against the church, which gained notoriety after picketing the funerals of American soldiers.
They also threatened to protest at the funerals of screen legend Elizabeth Taylor and Jackass star Ryan Dunn.
