The Twilight star previously expressed interest in releasing an LP in 2009, admitting at the time that he was hesitant to attempt musical fame on the back of his acting success.
However, now that he has finished shooting the final instalment in The Twilight Saga, the 25-year-old is said to be preparing to release an album.
"Rob has been kicking a few original songs around for a long time, but his schedule didn't allow it," an insider told Us Weekly.
The source continued: "Now he's got some weeks to get everything in line before going back to promoting Breaking Dawn."
Another insider apparently described what Pattinson's album will sound like, claiming that it will not be a standard pop record.
"The album Rob will make will be guitar-based and drums, very organic-sounding, nothing pop," said the second source. "Like stripped-down Ray LaMontagne meets Van Morrison."
In June 2010, Pattinson confessed that he misses writing and playing music since beginning the Twilight series, saying that he has been trying to write an album for years.
