The 'Days Are Forgotten' band achieved their third number one after selling more than 94,000 copies of the record in one week, double that of their nearest rival Ed Sheeran and his former chart-topper +.
Also making a reappearance on the rankings is jazz singer Tony Bennett, who lands at five with his star-studded Duets II album. The much-anticipated collection features the track 'Body And Soul', the last recording made by Amy Winehouse before her death in July.
Further down the chart, Example slips three places to six with Playing In The Shadows and Christina Perri arrives at nine with her debut album Lovestrong.
The new entries continue in the double digits with Superheavy's self-titled LP at 13, while both Laura Marling's A Creature I Don't Know and I'm With You by the Red Hot Chili Peppers crash out of the Top 10, falling 11 and seven respectively to 15 and 16.
Beyoncé bumps back into the upper half of the listings with 4, which advances three to 18, while My Heart by Doris Day drops nine spots to complete the Top 20.
Finally, Mumford & Sons manage to re-enter the chart at 21 with Sigh No More, which is now in its 103rd week of release.
