The possibility of more E Street Band tours was thrown into doubt in June when saxophonist Clarence Clemons died of complications from a stroke.
Springsteen mourned Clemons as a "man of unconditional love" and credited him the saxophonist with helping him "tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music".
E Street Band guitarist Van Zandt has revealed that the band will gather in the coming weeks to determine whether they can continue without Clemons, reports The AP.
Van Zandt told reporters that Clemons's absence will be a "void we will never replace", but added that he's hopeful that the E Street Band will still play together for the rest of their lives.
"That's what we do," Van Zandt added.
The E Street Band first formed in 1972 and have performed on several of Springsteen's well-known albums, including Born To Run, The Rising and Working on a Dream.
Springsteen recently signed to perform alongside Jon Stewart and Ricky Gervais at November's Stand Up for Heroes, which will raise money for the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
