The 'Just Can't Get Enough' singers performed before 60,000 fans in the Concert 4 NYC in Central Park on Friday.
The gig will benefit the Robin Hood foundation, a poverty relief foundation in the city. It had originally been scheduled for June, but was cancelled due to safety concerns after thunderstorms broke out.
An outbreak of rain threatened to dampen the date again, but the members of the group insisted that they would continue to play.
"This is a dream. There's not many artists who have played Central Park," WENN quotes Fergie as telling the crowd. "New York, we tried this once before but the lightning stopped us. But lightning don't strike twice!"
The Black Eyed Peas raised $1m for flood-ravaged Minot, North Dakota - the hometown of Fergie's husband Josh Duhamel - with a charity concert last month.
