The 'I Won't Let You Go' singer's third record knocked last week's champions Kasabian and Velociraptor! down into the runner-up spot after a reign of just one week.
Morrison previously scored a number one with his 2006 debut Undiscovered and broke the top three with its follow-up Songs For You, Truths For Me in 2008.
Elsewhere, Nirvana's multi-million-selling album Nevermind soars back into the chart at five as fans mark the 20th anniversary of its release. The seminal LP, which previously peaked at seven, comes from last week's 157 to achieve its best-ever chart finish.
Just behind at six is another triumphant return in the form of Blink-182's sixth studio album Neighborhoods, the band's first release since they reunited after a four-year hiatus in 2009.
Meanwhile, X Factor star Joe McElderry drops five to nine with his Classic album and Bruno Mars bumps up one spot with Doo Wops & Hooligans to lock in the Top 10. The 'Grenade' singer's collection has been in the top-sellers for all but nine weeks since its release in January.
Also making a reappearance in the Top 20 are rock legends Pink Floyd and their 1973 album The Dark Side Of The Moon, which launches back to 11 after the release of a remastered version this week.
Will Young slips four to 12 with Echoes, while Adele's 2008 debut 19 drops three to 13 and Tony Bennett's Duets II crashes from five to 15.
The upper half of the chart concludes with new entries from Girls Aloud singer Nicola Roberts and heavy metal favourites Mastodon, who land at 17 and 19 respectively with Cinderella's Eyes and The Hunter.
