Darren Hayes: 'New single Bloodstained Heart is like Savage Garden'

The singer said that his latest track, called 'Bloodstained Heart', reminds him of Savage Garden's 1999 hit 'I Knew I Loved You'.
Hayes told Digital Spy: "This was a song that I went back to record after giving the label my first draft of the new album. They told me it needed one more hit, and when we recorded this it reminded everyone of how we first felt about 'I Knew I Loved You'."
The star also revealed that he intended the track to be the first single from his latest LP Secret Codes And Battleships, adding: "We had a change of heart at the last minute. There's a great stadium, anthemic moment in it.
"It's about a close family member, so initially it was quite difficult to perform. It's a little easier now, but when I first wrote it and I played it to the person it was about, I was in bits."
Discussing the accompanying music video, which sees him jumping off the top of a tower block with a woman, he said: "I think it's kind of beautiful. Some people watch it and think that we just commit suicide, which obviously isn't the point.
"I've got all sorts of theories about the video, but fortunately we had a great female actress who played the part exactly as I imagined."
Hayes recently insisted that he doesn't want to be a "poster child" for gay artists.
