Steps The Reunion: Behind the scenes

Steps have claimed that they would sound similar to Lady GaGa if they were to release new material today.

The group, who have reunited for a Sky Living documentary series and the release of their Ultimate Collection album, said that they imagine their music would sound similar to GaGa's if they put out a new single today.

Lisa Scott-Lee told Digital Spy: "Over the years there have been a few pop-dance tracks that we've thought sound a bit Steps-ey. I like Cascada, and there was a Freemasons song where I thought, 'We could have done that!'"

Lee Latchford-Evans added: "H said GaGa's 'Judas' could have been a Steps song - if you take away the imagery and just listen to the chorus."

Scott-Lee continued: "Also 'Edge of Glory' could have been one. We're not saying we influenced GaGa, but I think that's where we would see ourselves musically if we released a song today."

The band recently revealed that they were asked to perform on The X Factor two years ago.

Steps release their Ultimate Collection on October 10.
