Although the 77-year-old's record label have claimed that they have no knowledge of a new LP, Adam Cohen has said that his father is working on the follow-up to 2004's Dear Heather.
"I was asked in some consultant capacity on a few occasions and I'm very happy to listen to what's being created and be asked for my opinions," he told BBC News.
Despite feeling happy to be involved in critiquing his father's work, fellow musician Adam added that there is no chance for a collaboration between the two.
"I would love to make music with my father and I have in a private way, but as for a public way he really doesn't need my help or contribution," he explained.
In June, Leonard Cohen was given the Prince of Asturias Award for literature in Spain.
The 'Hallelujah' singer was also presented with a lifetime achievement award at this year's Grammy Awards.
