The singer explained that the record has been delayed due to the lack of funding for his upcoming self-directed film.
Speaking at Jack Daniel's birthday gig in Tennessee, he admitted: "I had to stop working on Ballad of Bellmarsh to finish Ill Manors - it was getting in the way of me finishing the film.
"Ill Manors is a machine right now. I spent five years trying to get that film made, and we finally made it last year for, like, no money. I've since sold the distribution of the film to get some money to finish it and I think we've managed to make it feel like a great film. I think it's a real game-changer."
Asked when the LP will be released, he said: "The Ballad of Bellmarsh has had to wait. It's something I want to do which is pretty much based on what I'm doing with Ill Manors. The concept is that it's a feature film with music video parts as hip-hop narration. That's what Ballad of Bellmarsh is also going to be.
"I'm taking parts of the Strickland Banks videos and making it into this musical Strickland Banks film. There are big parts of that story that still haven't been told."
The star recently admitted that he had gained two stone while touring America.
