On Tuesday at a reunion press conference in London, the band confirmed two homecoming gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park on June 29 and June 30, 2012.
Tickets go on sale this Friday, October 21 at 9.30am and are limited to four per person. The band have pledged to follow the Manchester shows with a world tour.
"Our plan's to take over the world," said frontman Ian Brown. "We're going to go round the world next year."
Of the suggestion that money had fuelled the comeback, bassist Gary 'Mani' Mounfield told Digital Spy: "It's never been about the money... People have got dreams that they want to see happen and it'd be nice to satisfy their dreams and get it done."
Brown added: "The money's always been on the table. We could have took that money any time we wanted - every year, two, three times a year we've had offers, all the way down the line."
The Stone Roses have been hotly tipped to play the V Festival in 2012, but have refused to confirm or deny such reports.
