The singer admitted that after touring with U2 across America last summer, she decided to avoid alcoholic beverages so she wouldn't play hungover.
Welch told The Sun: "I have stopped drinking on tour. I feel a bit more responsibility for my body and for the fans who come to see us.
"When we toured with U2 it was such a gruelling schedule and I had shows everyday and I can't do that with a hangover."
The 25-year-old added that her other reason for giving up alcohol was to preserve and look after her voice.
She said: "This is the best job in the world and I don't want to spoil it. Stopping drinking has made a huge difference to my vocal range."
Welch recently confirmed that the collective's next single and follow-up to current cut 'Shake It Out' will be 'No Light, No Light'.
Florence + the Machine's second studio album Ceremonials will be released in the UK on October 31 and in the US on November 1.
