The 64-year-old rock musician performed a medley of his hits including 'Bat Out of Hell' and 'I Would Do Anything for Love' at the sporting event, but was slammed by the public for failing to hit most of the notes and mumbling into the microphone.
Meat Loaf has now told the News Limited newspaper group that he "gave his best" during the gig but blamed AFL organisers, saying that they refused to provide a live piano, didn't give him any time for a sound check and that he could not hear any of the music in his earpiece.
"I'm sorry, they're jerks," he said. "I do not like them. And I'll tell you what, anybody that I hear announces that they're going to play for them I'm going to write that particular artist a letter and tell them not to.
"And I hope the AFL hears this and I want this everywhere. Because I will go out of my way to tell any artist, 'Do not play for them'."
