The 18-year-old acknowledged that she is fully aware of what people think about her, but revealed that she isn't as tough as her public persona.
She told the Daily Star: "I know people think I'm a bitch but they don't realise I put on a massive front.
"When I go home and close the door I break down, phone my mum and dad and cry. It got to the point when I thought, 'Why am I doing this?'
"I'm getting s**t off everyone and I'm scared to even go out of my front door. I thought, 'F**k it, I don't want to do this anymore'. And I don't want to lie about it anymore either."
She added: "I think I need to let people know I'm not as strong as I pretend to be. I put up a big barrier because I don't want people to think I'm having a breakdown or that I can't handle the pressure."
The 'With Ur Love' star also confessed that she hasn't heard from mentor Cheryl Cole at all since leaving the show and has now realised that the friendship was an act.
"I've realised now it's a TV show," Lloyd said. "There's all sorts of tricks and s**t you can do to grab those viewers. I'm not going to beat about the bush and lie about it.
"If Cheryl decides to contact me then so be it but I'm doing all right without her. Nothing happened, we didn't fall out. It was just so weird.
"The show finished, we all ended on brilliant terms and then never heard from her since. I didn't even get a message when I got to number one."
Lloyd's new single 'With Ur Love' is available to download now, while her debut album Sticks + Stones will be released on November 7.
