Reading and Leeds festival boss Melvin Benn has promised "terrific" headline acts for next year's event.

Benn, who is the managing director of Festival Republic, revealed that the bookings he has already made are "very exciting".

He told BBC Newsbeat: "I couldn't be happier overall with where we're going with all the festivals."

Benn's music festival company also look after other major events including Latitude and The Big Chill.

He added: "I've just had a brilliant conversation about an act I was desperate to play Latitude and now I'm pretty sure will play Latitude."

Reading and Leeds 2012 will take place over the weekend August 24-26.

The 2011 event was headlined by Muse, My Chemical Romance, Pulp and The Strokes back in August.
