The Who won the 'Classic Album' gong for their timeless LP Quadrophenia, with Pete Townshend describing the set as "the best music I've ever written".
The night's big award went to guitarist Jeff Beck, who was named a 'Living Legend' and was presented the gong by Queen's Roger Taylor.
Previous winners of the award include Ozzy Osbourne, Alice Cooper and Iggy Pop.
The ceremony was held at Camden's Roundhouse and was hosted by Kiss frontman Gene Simmons.
