On Thursday, Dick Clark Productions president Orly Adelson revealed that the pair will kick off the awards show, which will air on November 20.
They will join previously announced acts Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Justin Bieber, Mary J Blige, Chris Brown, Kelly Clarkson, LMFAO, Katy Perry, Pitbull and Maroon 5.
Adele topped this year's nominees, earning four nods for 'Artist of the Year', 'Favourite Female Artist in Pop/Rock', 'Favourite Album in Pop/Rock' and 'Favourite Artist in Adult Contemporary'.
Meanwhile, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and The Band Perry received three nominations apiece. Voting is being held online.
The 2011 American Music Awards will air Sunday, November 20 from 8pm ET/PT on ABC.
