Liam Gallagher has said that his brother Noel's chart-topping album has "no balls".

The ex-Oasis frontman and current Beady Eye singer told The Daily Telegraph that he was happy that Noel's solo debut Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds had been well-received.

"It's all right," Liam said of the record. "I'm glad that people like it, man. He's got good songs. No balls, though. No attitude.

"Everyone knows what Noel Gallagher can do, and it's great, but it's boring. I've heard it all before."

Beady Eye's debut Different Gear, Still Speeding stalled at number three in the charts, while Noel's release outsold it within in a fortnight.

Liam added: "Being number one is not all it's cracked up to be. The Birdy Song was number one. I'd much rather be number three. You've got somewhere to go then."

When it was suggested that it was a mistake to threaten libel action against his brother for claiming that a hangover forced an Oasis no-show, Liam said: "You think so? Telling lies to get benefits with your lot, you journalists, I'm not having it.

"The minute he apologised, it got f**king dropped. And I'd do it all over again. So you be careful."

Liam recently claimed that Noel will come to "realise he's not that good without his younger brother" and has repeatedly said that he will be happy to reunite Oasis in 2015.

Noel has dismissed the offer, adding: "I left that band for a reason and that reason still stands."
