One Direction, Snow Patrol lead midweek charts

One Direction are on course to gain their second UK number one single.

The boyband have topped the midweek chart with their new cut 'Gotta Be You', pushing Rihanna's 'We Found Love' down to number two.

Flo Rida enters at number three with 'Good Feeling', while Labrinth sits at four with 'Earthquake' and Ed Sheeran stays firm at five with 'Lego House'.

JLS tumble five places to seven with 'Take A Chance On Me', while The Saturdays linger outside the top ten at 12 with new single 'My Heart Takes Over'.

Pixie Lott's 'What Do You Take Me For?' plummets to 18 and Westlife's new cut 'Lighthouse' debuts at number 20.

Lady GaGa's 'Marry The Night' vaults up to 25 after her appearance on The X Factor, while Drake's new collaboration with Rihanna 'Take Care' premieres at 29 despite not being an official single.

Slow Moving Millie's cover of The Smith's 'Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want' enters at 38 after gaining popularity through the John Lewis Christmas advert.

Over on the album chart, Snow Patrol are on course to gain their second UK number one album with Fallen Empires.

JLS currently reside at number two with their third studio album Jukebox, while Michael Buble's festive LP Christmas sits at three.

Drake's second opus Take Care enters at four and Susan Boyle's Someone To Watch Over Me slides to seven.
