MTV has announced the first nominees for its 'Brand New for 2012' competition.
Clement Marfo & the Frontline and Angel are the first acts to be unveiled for the project, which supports new artists hoping to break through next year.

A number of this year's nominees will join Wretch 32 for a gig at London's KOKO on December 1.
Clement Marfo & the Frontline, who have supported the likes of Plan B and Florence + the Machine, said: "Thoroughly overwhelmed by this news!
"This year has been a positive start and we are honestly privileged to be acknowledged by MTV for doing what it is we love to do."
23-year-old Angel, who has penned tracks for Roll Deep, Pixie Lott and Jason Derulo, added: "It's an honour to be nominated by MTV. This has motivated me to work harder."
Previous nominees for MTV's 'Brand New' include Lady GaGa, Justin Bieber, Ke$ha, Tinie Tempah, Adele and Florence + the Machine.
Tickets for the show are on sale now via www.mtv.co.uk/brandnewtickets.
