The singer, who hosts The Xtra Factor with Caroline Flack, said he would like to front the show should it be revived.
"I don't know why us artists haven't said, 'Let's back a campaign to bring it back' because it would be amazing," Murs told The Sun.
"Except for Later With Jools Holland, there isn't one music show. If you had TOTP for artists across the board on Friday nights, I could host it! I'd love that."
BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Lauren Laverne recently backed the return of Top of the Pops, saying it is needed "now more than ever".
Both Simon Cowell and Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond have previously expressed interest in reviving the weekly music show.
The final regular Top of the Pops episode aired on July 30, 2006, although special editions continue to be shown at Christmas.
