Azealia Banks beats Jarvis Cocker to top of NME Cool List 2011

New York-based MC Azealia Banks has topped the 2011 NME Cool List.
The '212' rapper beat Jarvis Cocker, frontman of recently-reformed Britpop icons Pulp, into second place.
Banks is opening the NME Awards Tour 2012 in February next year, which also features performances from Two Door Cinema Club, Metronomy and Tribes.

The top five were rounded out by Cerebral Ballzy frontman Honour Titus in three and Kasabian due Serge Pizzorno and Tom Meighan tied in fourth.

Last year, the magazine attracted attention after including then-X Factor contestant singer Cher Lloyd on its Cool List despite the singer having only performed on two live shows at that point. Singer-songwriter Laura Marling topped the list that year.
Other stars named most cool by the magazine in recent years have included Gossip's Beth Ditto in 2006, Gallows frontman Frank Carter in 2007 and Crystal Castles frontwoman Alice Glass in 2008.
