Bee Gees reunion sparked by Robin Gibb cancer battle

The Bee Gees have reportedly been inspired to launch a comeback by Robin Gibb's battle with liver cancer.

The 61-year-old was revealed last week to have been diagnosed with the disease, but has since assured fans that he is "on the road to recovery".

The 'How Deep Is Your Love' band's former record company boss David English has now claimed that Barry Gibb wants to perform with his brother again once he recovers.

"Barry came out with it and said, 'Look, why don't we go on the road again?' and Rob just grinned and replied, 'Great, when can we go?'," English told The Mirror.

"We said, 'We need to get you a bit stronger and better first. We will have to feed you up - none of this vegan nonsense with herbal tea'. I think it was the best medicine we could have given him."

Sources close to Robin have also thanked fans on his behalf for their touching messages of support.

"The response from fans, members of the public and famous people has been incredible," the friend said. "It has really touched Robin and his wife Dwina.

"It is not just messages on the internet but the cards, presents and letters. So many people have taken the time to send the messages... they have been ­inundated. It is overwhelming. Some fans turned up at the house to ­deliver cards."

Robin previously said to his supporters: "I believe because of you I will get well and my deepest love goes out to you all."
