Ten selections have been named including recent breakout star Lana Del Rey, Delilah and Charli XCX, who will all compete for the accolade of best 'Brand New Artist For 2012' on February 1.
Joining them is London-based singer Angel, seven piece hip-hop collective Clement Marfo & The Frontline, YouTube sensation Conor Maynard and rising British star King Charles.
Soul newcomer Lianne La Havas is also listed along with Michael Kiwanuka, who recently supported Adele on her UK tour.
Speaking about her nomination, 19 year-old Charli XCX told Digital Spy: "I'm really excited about it - I'm so pleased!
"I've been doing this for so many years that I really feel I deserve to be on this list. I'm excited to finally show larger audiences what I've been doing".
A tenth pick will be added to the list on January 9 when the public are given the opportunity to vote for an unsigned act to compete for the award.
The new act will become the first ever unsigned talent to be included on MTV's 'Brand New' nominations list and fans will have the chance to chose from a shortlist of 20 on January 8.
Previous MTV 'Brand New' nominees include Tinie Tempah, Florence + the Machine, Adele, Wretch 32, Lady GaGa, Ke$ha, Ellie Goulding, Friendly Fires and many more.
