A Facebook campaign was launched last week to try to get the Idiot Abroad star's track to the Christmas number one spot, in aid of The Prostate Cancer Charity.
However, the campaign page has announced that it has been told by Pilkington's agent that there are no plans to release the track, as it was only made for the "sole purpose of the show".
Pilkington originally sang the song with Chas & Dave on the final episode of An Idiot Abroad, as it was something he wanted to achieve as part of his 'bucket list'.
The campaign is now asking its followers to sign a petition in order for the producers of the programme to change their minds in time for Christmas week.
In the meantime, they have set up a new page for people to download Chas & Dave's original version of the track instead on December 18, and to donate to the charity via its website.
The main contenders for this year's Christmas number one so far are the X Factor winner, Nirvana's re-release of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and the Military Wives Choir.
