The rapper, who will release her new LP Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded on February 14, promised fans that it will revert back to her underground phase.
Minaj told Tim Westwood on his 1Xtra show: "I had to go back and reasses and I realised that my Barbz missed mixtape Nicki - crazy Nicki - and so Roman basically escaped out of Moscow.
"And now he's like, 'You know what, Nicki? Sit down, imma show you how to do this'. So I let him go wild on Roman Reloaded."
Of how she feels about the new record, Minaj explained: "I'm probably the happiest I've ever been in my career because I'm finally putting things into perspective.
"I really didn't have fun recording Pink Friday, but I'm having fun recording Roman Reloaded. I'm really letting loose and I'm not over-thinking things anymore and I'm just being in the moment."
She added: "Roman's follow-up to 'Roman in Moscow' will be out real soon. He just had so much to say and he just wants to play and snatch wigs and snatch weaves and snatch bald spots and that's what he's going to do."
Minaj also confirmed that she plans to return to the UK in March to perform at small gigs and television appearances after promoting the album in the US.
