Coldplay announce 2012 North American tour dates

Coldplay have announced plans for a North American tour next summer.

The band will play 21 dates across the continent in support of their fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto, which topped the UK and US charts back in October.



Coldplay will start the tour at Edmonton's Rexall Place on April 17 and conclude the string of gigs at St. Paul's Xcel Ebergy Centre on August 11.

The newly-announced North American dates sandwich the band's European stint, which includes a run of stadium gigs in the UK next June.

Tickets for the US shows will go on sale on December 17 at 10am, while the two concerts at LA's Hollywood Bowl will be released in January.

Frontman Chris Martin recently claimed that they are sometimes referred to as a "s**t Radiohead" while speaking to a crowd at an intimate gig in London.
