The executive, who has worked with the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson during his career, sustained fatal injuries after being shot three times in a rampage in Hollywood.
Atterberry was shot in the face and upper body by Tyler Brehm, who fired nearly 20 bullets and screamed that he wanted to die while attacking civilians down Sunset Boulevard, reports Billboard.
According to the report, Brehm injured three people before he was eventually detained by two off-duty policemen who shot and killed him.
Police are currently investigating Brehm's motive behind the attacks, while his ex-girlfriend has revealed that they recently split up.
Atterberry was a respected figure in the music industry and had worked on albums from artists including Christina Aguilera and Michael Jackson.
