Port of Morrow will be released in March, 2012, and will be the follow-up to 2007's Wincing the Night Away.
The album will be released through frontman James Mercer's Aural Apothecary label with Columbia Records, after leaving Sub Pop in 2008. It was recorded during the past year in Los Angeles and Portland.
Mercer joined up with Gnarls Barkley's Danger Mouse for the band Broken Bells in 2009, and released the EP Meyrin Fields earlier this year.
The Shins completed a US tour in October, and are expected to embark on a new run to promote the album in 2012.
