The singer said that she wants to enjoy time with her family and friends before writing material for the follow-up to 2010's Teenage Dream.
She told E! Online: "I know you guys want a new record, but I have to live a little so all the songs will be something worth listening to. I think that maybe I'm going to just think about enjoying Christmas and New Year's."
Perry will play the final few dates of her 'California Dreams' tour in Indonesia and the Philippines in mid-January.
It was recently suggested that Perry may not be able to work with longtime collaborator Dr Luke on her next record as the producer has signed an exclusive deal with Sony, while Perry remains with Capitol/EMI.
