Westlife have admitted that they regret releasing 'Lighthouse' as a single.

The group released the Gary Barlow-penned track back in November as a new cut to be included on their Greatest Hits compilation following the announcement of their impending split.

However, 'Lighthouse' failed to crack the top ten of the UK chart and peaked at number 32, becoming their worst-performing single to date.

Band member Nicky Byrne told the Daily Star: "It's disappointing as we've never had a chart position that bad. Our fans instead bought tickets for our last tour next May."

He added: "'Beautiful World', which Mark wrote, would have been better. However, as we're splitting up, whether it charted at number one or number 100, it makes no difference to the next six months for us."

Westlife released a music video for their track 'Beautiful World' earlier today (December 15), featuring highlights from their 14-year-long career.
