The band, who will be honoured at the ceremony with the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music' prize, said that they will also play at the event to celebrate their award.
Bassist Alex James told Xfm that the group had recently met up for "a Christmas cuppa" and to discuss the Brit Awards, adding: "We're going to play, which is brilliant, it's like putting the Blues Brothers back together."
Asked whether they will release a new album in 2012, he admitted: "Well, let's hope - heritage year next year. [Would] be good, wouldn't it?
"I wish I could tell you more. I'm sure it will happen one day but I don't know when. It's quite nice to keep it special."
James recently hinted that Blur are considering more live shows in the future, saying: "We all remembered how much we loved being in a band."
