Matt Berry has said that he doesn't mind "naff" Christmas songs.
The IT Crowd comedian and actor has compiled crowdsourced seasonal single 'A Christmas Song' - credited to Matt Berry & Everyone - using the GarageBand application.
"It came about purely from me being interested in the technical side of it," Berry told Digital Spy. "Would it be possible for a whole bunch of people to listen to something that's already been composed and then play along with it?
"I had the basic song which on the first video displayed the tempo and all the chords... you would send that to me without any backing - just you on your own, and I place that over the track.
"Eventually I've got a whole bunch of people who are playing in time with the song, and I just take most of myself out."
Of homelessness charity Shelter, who will benefit from proceeds of the track, Berry said: "The homeless thing, people always associate that with blokes with dogs on strings.
"The whole thing about a family losing their home stuck with me. It just seemed like something that I wanted to help with."
Asked if he was a fan of Christmas songs, Berry said: "I am. I like the good ones. I like the Roy Wood and [Phil] Spector ones - the decent ones.
"I've got nothing against Christmas songs, of course they're naff, but I don't mind that."
Quizzed on whether it was hard to be accepted as a musician alongside his comedy career, he added: "I don't care anything about being accepted. It's an honour for anyone to even buy them, let alone them do well. It's all a bonus."

GarageBand was made available for the Apple iPad earlier this year. Damon Albarn used the tablet extensively when recording Gorillaz's last studio album The Fall.
