The boyband, who released their debut single 'All Time Low' just 17 months ago, said they were surprised and proud of all they had achieved in such a short time.
"So much has happened, we can't believe it was all in a year," member Nathan Sykes told the Daily Star. "We've done our first tour, the Comic Relief single 'Gold Forever', the Brit nomination and our album went platinum. When we look back we think: 'What the hell happened?'
"Everyone thinks we've had it easy but we work really hard, so it'll be nice to go home at Christmas and chill out and sort things out in our heads."
The Wanted previously admitted to Digital Spy that they feared their sophomore album Battleground would flop.
"We were really worried that it wouldn't go into the Top 10, because quite a few fellow pop people haven't done as well as they'd hoped," Jay McGuiness said. "When we nipped in at number five... we were like, 'Oh thank God for that!' It was a bit of a relief and then a celebration afterwards."
They also named touring with Justin Bieber and the 'Glad You Came' video shoot in Ibiza as their top moments of 2011.
The Wanted revealed earlier this month that they are on the verge of signing a US management deal.
