Up to 20 firefighters were called out to the 5,000-capacity London venue at around 4am after a blaze ripped through the bar area, BBC News reports.
The Lambeth London Fire Brigade confirmed that the "whole of the bar area, making up to 10 per cent of the auditorium, was damaged by fire."
Nobody was injured as the Academy was closed at the time, and the flames were eventually put out around 90 minutes later.
It was confirmed on the venue's official Twitter page that an event scheduled for New Year's Eve would be going ahead.
"Full on Ferry (@FerryCorsten) NYE at @O2academybrix will be taking place as planned," a post read.
Ferry Corsten and former Radio 1 DJ Judge Jules are among the acts expected to appear on the night.
