Kinks frontman Ray Davies is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award at a ceremony in London.
American performing rights organisation BMI has decided to recognise the 1960s group's co-founder during its annual awards dinner at the Dorchester Hotel.
He follows names including Steve Winwood and Van Morrison in taking the BMI Icon Award. They are deemed to have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers".
The organisation – which collects royalties for songwriters and copyright owners – holds the event on October 3.
