The legendary singer-actress, who first got into music because she wanted attention, is known for her hit songs such as 'I Will Always Love You' and 'Nine To Five'.
She told WENN: "I'm writing my life story as a musical for Broadway. I probably won't be in it but I'll find a way to introduce it somehow, maybe the older me."
Parton's previous Broadway project, the adaptation of her 1980 film Nine to Five, failed to attract audiences after its 2009 debut, closing down after 17 weeks. However, she said that she didn't let the unsuccessful musical "sour" her and that she learned a lot from it.
Parton can be seen next in the gospel musical Joyful Noises with Queen Latifah, to be released on January 13.
She shared that she would love to write the music for Joyful Noises if it gets adapted to a Broadway show.
