A report from the London Evening Standard had claimed that the band will perform at the upcoming London Olympic Games alongside Sir Paul McCartney.
A source had said: "It's long been made clear it would take something very special to get Pink Floyd back together again and it doesn't get any bigger than the Olympics.
"Like Sir Paul, they have been a major part of the nation's culture over the past 40 years and it will be very fitting that they're involved when London is on show to the world. It's hoped everything can be confirmed in the coming weeks."
However, representatives for Gilmour have since told NME that the reports are untrue.
"David Gilmour can confirm that there is no truth in recent media speculation about Pink Floyd re-uniting to perform for the 2012 London Olympics," they said.
The last official gig from Pink Floyd was at 2005's Live 8 event. The group briefly reunited in May as part of a Roger Waters solo gig.
Nick Mason had previously hinted that Pink Floyd may reunite "for the fans".
