Cowell picks old classics over pop tunes

The music mogul and infamous reality TV judge picked just one recent release in his selection of eight for radio programme Desert Island Discs.
'You're Not The One', by Daniel Bedingfield, was the only modern hit to make it in. His other choices were all classics including Frank Sinatra, Righteous Brothers and Sammy Davis Jr songs.
Cowell said his all-time favourite was 'Mack the Knife' sung by Bobby Darin – hailing it "the best song ever made, ever produced, ever sang". He said Charles Aznavour's 'She' was "one of the most beautiful songs of all time".
He also commented about X Factor on the Radio 4 show. "It's like the outpatients of an insane asylum sometimes," he told presenter Sue Lawley. "I mean you just think, 'Is this a joke?'"
The former music manager went on to pick a mirror as his luxury item for the desert island, explaining: "because I'd miss me".
