The singer released his first LP + back in September, but the set returned to the top spot last weekend to become the first number one album of 2012.
Sheeran told the Daily Star: "It amazes me. I don't know where these people who keep buying my music every week come from or why they keep buying it.
"I was told statistically somebody is more likely to buy a song if they hear it three times on the radio. I suppose because my music has had more radio plays, more people have picked it up. It fascinates me."
However, the 20-year-old is currently recording a secret project with a big US name over the next few days. He admitted: "I'm recording something very special over the next two and a half days. I'm very excited."
Meanwhile, Adele is currently on course to knock Sheeran off the top spot with her multi-million-selling album 21 during its 50th week of release.
