The software will allow the public to vote for their preferred artists in the 'British Single', 'British Group' and 'British Breakthrough' categories.
It has been developed by Noise Inc. and will be released to Apple's App Store on January 12.
Brit Awards event director Maggie Crowe said of the new app: "The BRIT Awards with MasterCard is delighted to be able to launch its first ever App.
"We want to keep in touch with our fans through their iPhones, with apps, and Noise Inc. has helped us make it possible for them to connect directly with The BRITs to vote and keep up to date with all our latest news."
The full list of nominees for the Brit Awards 2012 will be announced during a ceremony at the Savoy Hotel in London on January 12.
