Max Gregory Warren filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court on December 30 demanding $2.3 million from Khalifa, who he says copied his material.
Warren believes that Khalifa's 2010/11 hit 'Black and Yellow' infringes copyright laws around his own track 'Pink N Yellow', which he wrote back in November 2007, reports AllHipHop.com.
'Pink N Yellow' was officially copyrighted in February 2008 by Warren with a view to publish or licence the song.
However, the songwriter claims that Khalifa, along with producers Stargate and label Rostrum Records, stole the concept of the song a few years later.
According to the lawsuit filed, Khalifa and his team heard 'Pink N Yellow' and "engaged in a scheme to defraud plaintiff out of the fruits of his copyright of the Subject song".
Khalifa recently teamed up with Snoop Dogg for a track titled 'Young, Wild & Free', which will feature on the soundtrack for their upcoming movie Mac and Devin Go To High School.
