Michael Kiwanuka has revealed that Jay-Z has been in touch about a possible collaboration.

The singer said that when he was in New York earlier this year, the rapper's people contacted him about potentially working together on a project in the near future.

Asked by BBC Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe if the rumour was true, Kiwanuka replied: "Yeah - I've kept that quiet! That was really interesting, but yeah, there were a few e-mails.

"But then it's a few e-mails that haven't really materialised. We were in New York and there was an e-mail, but only a few hours before we had to leave so we couldn't get it together."

He added: "I don't know what will happen with that. I have kept it quiet, but it's Jay-Z, so if that comes then yeah."

It was announced earlier today that Kiwanuka is the winner of the BBC's Sound of 2012 list, beating Frank Ocean and Azealia Banks to the accolade.

The singer's EP 'Home Again' is available to download now.
