The singer said that he is currently working on original material for his fifth studio record, which he hopes to release later this year.
Keating told Australia's Sunday Mail: "Now I have a new lease of life and I'm ready to write and record. I'm working on a new studio album, which I hope to release later this year.
"It's my first studio album in five years and will feature brand new songs. It has a folk feel at the moment but the sound is changing all the time."
The new material will follow Keating's 2011 album When Ronan Met Burt, which featured ten tracks sung by the former Boyzone star and was composed by Burt Bacharach.
Louis Walsh stepped down as Boyzone's manager last June after claiming the Irish stars couldn't compete with modern male groups.
