Sheeran told the Daily Star: "For my first album it was important to record the songs my fans had heard the way they were performed live.

"But I'd like to try a few different things for the next album, take more risks."

The star has previously confessed that he is "amazed" by the success of his debut album +, which returned to the top of the UK chart earlier this month.

Sheeran recently confirmed that he will be the main support act for the entirety of Snow Patrol's upcoming 28-date tour across the US.
