Klaxons have revealed that they are about to start recording their third album.

Writing on Twitter and Facebook, the 'Echoes' band confirmed that they would enter the studio in a week's time.

"7 days and counting until we commence recording record 3 #trilogy," the group said.

The as-yet-untiled album follows the band's 2007 Mercury Prize-winning debut Myths of the Near Future and 2010's Surfing The Void.

Klaxons claimed that they had been asked by label Polydor to re-record parts of their second album because it was too experimental.

The band cancelled a tour in North America last spring, citing "unforeseen circumstances".
