The 'Born to Die' hitmaker, who was due to sing at the event in London, has had to cancel due to an unspecified illness.
"I'm really sorry to share that due to illness Lana Del Rey is regrettably not able to perform at tonight's (Tuesday, January 24) MTV 'Brand New For 2012' show at London's Koko," a spokesperson said.
"[She] sends her apologies to all her fans. We wish her a speedy recovery."
Her fellow 'Brand New For 2012' nominees Charli XCX and The Maccabees will still perform tonight, with the gig starting at the slightly later time of 8.15pm.
Del Rey recently came under fire for the quality of her performance on Saturday Night Live.
She said in a newspaper interview published today that critics are determined for her to "go off the rails".
