The 'Old Man' singer revealed that the group have recorded their first new LP since 2003's Greendale, and that they are already working on a further collection, reports Young fansite Thrasher's Wheat.
Young is said to have told the news to a group assembled at a master class at the Slamdance Festival where he spoke with director Jonathan Demme about their joint project Journeys.
Neil Young has released a host of albums with Crazy Horse from 1969 including Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and Sleeps With Angels.
The singer-songwriter recently slammed the sound quality of 21st century music.
He said: "I don't like it. It just makes me angry. Not the quality of the music, but we're in the 21st century and we have the worst sound that we've ever had. It's worse than a 78 [rpm record]. Where are our geniuses? What happened?"
