The Australian rock band, which consists of Malcolm and Angus Young, Phil Rudd, Cliff Williams and Brian Johnson, are reportedly keen to create a follow-up record to 2008's Black Ice, but their studio time has been put on hold.
Lead singer Brian Johnson told The Cowhead Show: "Hopefully this year we can get back together again. One of the boys is a little sick. I can't say anything, but he's getting better."
When asked if the illness was terminal, he added: "No, but just bad. He's doing wonderful. [A] full recovery [is] fully expected."
Earlier this month, AC/DC won three awards for 'Best Reissue or Archival Release', 'Best DVD' and 'Best Commercial at the Ultimate Classic Rock Awards, while their Live at River Plate DVD won 'Best Music DVD' at last year's ARIA Awards.
AC/DC celebrate their 40th anniversary next year and have revealed that they want to do another world tour, but then will probably retire.
Johnson said: "I think you need a full stop at the end of everything, a sentence, your life, or your car. There has to be a full stop and I don't think we've had one yet."
