Paulini has revealed that she wanted to honour heroic firefighters in her latest single.

The 29-year-old Australian singer, who was a contestant on 2003's Australian Idol, said that she realised that she wanted to pay tribute to firefighters and also have some "cheeky" fun with their pin-up status in the video for 'Fireman'.

Paulini told The Daily Telegraph: "I was in New York in Brooklyn and a fire truck drove past with the sirens blaring. I looked over at a bunch of girls and they were going off, waving and cheering the firemen. [So] I thought, 'Let's write a song that's cheeky, but also celebrates what they do'.

"[Firemen are] overlooked. I don't think they get a lot of praise for what they do and these guys put their lives on the line every day, so I just thought, 'Why not create a song which celebrates the amazing work that these guys do for the community'?"

Real-life firefighters Brad Martin, Ben Ziekenheiner and Eamonn Crean can be seen starring alongside Paulini in her music video, which is released later this week. The trio have previously starred in the annual New South Wales Firefighters' Calendar, which raises money for Westmead children's hospital.

Since writing the single, Paulini has been signed up as an ambassador for the World Firefighters Games in Sydney this October, where she will perform 'Fireman'.
